OSC’s Dr. F. Cal Robinson was invited to lecture at 6th Edition of The International Conference on Pain Management, held March 26-28, 2018 in Vienna, Austria.
The theme of this year’s conference was: “Unique Pioneering Research, strategies and approaches in Pain Management” which brings together professionals particularly interested in the Pain Management research work and discussions about new scientific discoveries have brought about some significant advances in understanding of why differing approaches to the management of Chronic Pain are needed.
Dr. Robinson spoke about his work with Chronic Pain patients using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Mindfulness-Based Chronic Pain Management Program™, and discussed the positive outcomes his patients have realized. Dr. Robinson further clarified. “The intent of the discussion was to look at overcoming barriers for treatment that often interfere with pain management skill development, such as the conditioned expectations of ‘pain relief at all costs’. The basic structure of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) coupled with Mindfulness techniques, gives patients the tools to live with Chronic Pain, in the moment, in a non-reactive way. ”
