A community lecture by OSC specialist, Dr Robert Snyder
Dr Snyder takes us through the anatomy of the knee, and how the knee develops and is affected by age from infancy to senior years.
The lecture also shows how we lose our natural ability to heal and repair damaged cartilage (which leads to arthritis) and the causes of damage to the knee aside from loss of cartilage. For instance, up to 65% of the force from each step we take is transmitted through the inside of the knee, which leads to potential for wear and tear.
Dr Snyder shows how our weight and various activities impact our knee health and contribute to the natural history and injuries along with predisposition factors such as genetics which can lead to osteoarthritis.
The lecture handles diagnosis and treatment, but also covers prevention.
