Side Effects (Anesthesia-Induced and Surgical)

Anesthesia-induced side effects (you may experience none, some or all of these):

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Post-surgical soreness and fatigue
  • Grogginess or dizziness
  • Sleepiness
  • Difficulty remembering events/confusion
  • Difficulty urinating or having a bowel movement
  • Itching
  • Feeling emotional (sad, angry, depressed)

Surgical Side-Effects (you may experience some or all of these):

  • Sore, scratchy throat (from intubation and/or cervical procedure)
  • Tenderness or Pain at the incision site
  • A slight fever (99-100 degrees F)
  • Swelling, Bruising or Discoloration at or around the incision site
  • Itching at or around the incision site
  • Muscle soreness near the incision site
  • Soreness from lying on the surgical table for an extended period
  • Slight depression or feelings of sadness
