My right shoulder was gone and giving me a LOT of pain. After having Physical Therapy, the Doctor at OSC took a MRI of my shoulder. After reviewing the outcome of the MRI, my questions were – how do we fix this and how soon? I did not want to wait, putting off surgery would only make me older. I’m 73 and not getting any younger. That’s when the OSC staff took over and booked the surgery at the hospital. A few weeks later, Dr. Martin Coleman did a total reverse shoulder replacement.
After five weeks of Physical Therapy, I was able to swim two laps at the Recreational Center in Williamsburg. I could not swim two strokes before the surgery. Dr. Coleman advised me to do the therapy right after the surgery and follow all the advice of my physical therapist.
Pain was only a issue for two days after surgery. I stopped taking Percocet after two days and just used OTC meds after that. I’m not saying that I had no pain, but it was not that bad. You will have some pain with the Physical Therapy. That will also lessen everyday you do the exercises. My advice is, don’t put surgery off if you are a little on the older side.
The staff and Doctors at OSC are top shelf. Now, MANY THANKS to Dr. Martin Coleman for doing such a GREAT job on my shoulder. I’m sleeping better, working a little in my yard, and living life large. What could be better?

After shattering my humerus from a fall during a morning run in 2021, I received a total reverse shoulder replacement and was sent to physical therapy for rehab at OSC. Dr. Cody Leeworthy was my therapist during that time and he was extraordinary. Dr. Leeworthy was prompt, attentive, personable and showed genuine concern for my condition. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me in detail. All of my questions were answered and 10 months post-surgery, I believe my mobility is at 90%. I’m told this is amazing. I recommend Dr. Leeworthy to anyone seeking a physical therapist. He will not disappoint you.

In 2021, Dr. Martin Coleman and I opted for a total reverse shoulder replacement after I shattered my humerus from a fall during my morning run. As he termed it, it’s a “one and done” type of procedure, eliminating the need for potential follow-up surgeries. If choosing this surgery, it’s important to note and follow Dr. Coleman’s instructions completely.
Rehab was hard but worth it. After two months of physical therapy and continued exercise following that, I believe my mobility to be at 90% at 10 months post-surgery. I’m told this is amazing. I am back to running and strength training. Dr. Coleman was very straightforward and explained everything to my satisfaction. The operation was a complete success and I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Coleman to anyone considering shoulder surgery.

The operation on my hip, with Dr. John Burrow at OSC, went very smoothly and the staff at Mercy Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital, were very helpful. I had little pain after the operation and over a period of about 6 weeks, was able to walk as normal.
Mr. Jonathan Lorusso PTA, and staff at the OSC Physical Therapy Clinic were very helpful and helped me stretch my muscles back into shape. The check-in on my phone at PT and Orthopedic made it very easy to been seen in a timely manor. I am very pleased with the outcome of my operation.
