I recently had a total knee replacement at the Orthopaedic and Spine Center (OSC). I have written a testimonial for Dr. Boyd Haynes and highly recommend OSC, particularly Dr. Haynes and his surgical team, for this procedure. Further, I chose the OSC Physical Therapy team for my post-op physical therapy provider. After 2 weeks of home therapy, I was ready for my outpatient therapy.
Dr. Paige Tretter was my lead therapist. Her team consisted of Bill Richards (PT Assistant) and Brittany Hodges (PT Technician). Dr. Paige designed a detailed PT plan for me after conducting a range of motion assessment of my knee. She provided me an at-home exercise program to be integral to the OSC exercise plan. By following her plan, I was able to meet my range of motion goal ahead of schedule. I then progressed to leg muscle strengthening.
I had 8 x 1 hour therapy sessions at OSC PT. My PT Technician, Brittany Hodges, escorted me to my exercise locations and coached me through each exercise to ensure I was doing each properly. At the conclusion of each session, Bill Richards did a progress assessment to ensure I was progressing. At no point, did I feel duress throughout my sessions. Every exercise was a positive experience.
I highly recommend going to OSC PT for your outpatient knee replacement physical therapy treatments. Throughout my 4 week program, Dr. Paige and her staff were very professional, encouraging and just plain friendly. I enjoyed my experiences at the OSC PT Center. Note however – self physical therapy at home IS absolutely essential to reaching your therapy goals. This takes commitment to the OSC plan for your complete surgery recovery.
I had a total knee replacement at OSC at the end of May 2021. Dr. Boyd Haynes ( and PA Chris Schwizer) performed my surgery. I strongly recommend going to OSC and requesting Dr. Haynes in particular, for this surgery. Their services are conservative, comprehensive and professional. I requested Dr.Haynes because he previously performed hip replacement surgery on my wife and her experience was excellent.
Dr. Haynes was very thorough in terms of discussing my knee surgery and recommended for me outpatient surgery. He detailed every step of the procedure, answering clearly my questions. I reported to the hospital at 8:00 AM. By 9:30, I had completed my pre-op procedures and met with Dr. Haynes’ surgical team. The next thing I remember was waking up in a large comfortable chair at 12:30 PM. My leg was wrapped in an Ace bandage from the middle of my thigh to my ankle. The entire procedure was absolutely pain free. I was a little groggy at first, but soon ready for discharge. I had no problem getting into the passenger side seat of our car.
The next day I was visited by Dr. Haynes’ home physical therapy staff. Dr. Haynes does not use stitches or staples to close the wound. A surgical tape closes the wound and is pain free and comfortable. My wound was text book perfect. I was given a home exercise program and therapy schedule to ensure a successful surgery. Home therapy took 2 weeks (2 visits/week). I elected to go to the OSC Physical Therapy for my out-patient physical therapy. I highly recommend this group for your 4 week post-op physical therapy. The OSC Physical Therapy program is integral to Dr. Haynes’ surgical plan for a successful knee replacement. Note – it is essential to do your home exercises as prescribed by the OSC Physical Therapy professional staff. Increasing range of motion and strengthening your leg muscles are critical to a successful knee replacement.
In summary, I strongly recommend using all of OSC’s services. I especially recommend having Dr. Haynes and his team perform all aspects of the procedure. I give Dr. Haynes my highest recommendation, trust him implicitly and am very pleased with my new knee. I’m back to walking several miles per day and I’m confident I’ll be playing golf again soon – pain free.
The OSC has been my Go To place for more than twenty years. This time, it was sciatica and it was very painful. Through the expertise of Dr. Tom Toothaker and Bill Richards PTA, I am now free of this pain and am able to walk normally. Kudos to all the great folks at the OSC Physical Therapy Center!

My name is Donna and I would highly recommend Dr. Martin Coleman and this facility. They went over and beyond to accommodate my needs. They do their own x-rays, open MRI and surgeries within steps away from their offices, which is very accommodating.
When you arrive you check-in with the receptionist, which has always been very friendly. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be called back, very impressive.
Dr. Coleman is very passionate about his profession and answered all my concerns, before and after my surgery. I would rate Dr. Coleman a 5 star physician.
As a nurse practitioner and a case manager, my priorities for a knee replacement were to minimize risk for infection, have effective pain management, coordinated care and optimal recovery of functional movement. Dr. John Burrow and his team prepared me with what to expect, how to prepare for the surgery with pre-op exercises and and with clear infection prevention instructions for the 3 day skin prep prior to surgery. The exercises pre-op made for optimal recovery of movement and strength post-op. I was up walking with no walker at 2 days and driving at 2 weeks and back at work in under 3 weeks (my job requires little movement and I could elevate and ice my knee as needed).
The team at Mary Immaculate Hospital is laser focused on infection prevention and pain management. The unit RN and therapy staff work in a coordinated manner to manage pain, increase mobility, prevent infection and blood clots. They have a nurse-patient navigator (Nancy) that is well versed in post-op knee replacement recovery and Dr. Burrow’s expectations. She was available to answer all questions. and provided me many helpful tips for managing pain without fear. Ice and Tylenol worked wonders and minimized the need for opiates after the first 48 hrs. She, along with the nurse case manager, coordinated my DC and post-acute care services for home care, prescriptions, follow- up appointments, post-op instructions, etc.). The Knee Replacement Recovery handbook is well done, easy to follow and extremely helpful.
This is a comprehensive program that is based on research and is patient-centered. Knee replacements are not easy, but this team approach makes for the best outcome. At 12 weeks post-op, I am walking 2 miles, riding my bike, doing exercise classes and able to work on my feet without pain for 10 or more hours a day.
This team is the best and I am so thankful to Dr. Burrow for giving me my back my active lifestyle with minimal pain and functional movement.
Dr. Martin Coleman has been treating me for years for bone spurs in both shoulders. My right arm finally got bad enough that we decided on surgery. So on March 19, 2021 Dr. Coleman performed surgery on my right shoulder. He found a bad bone spur, shredded tissue in the shoulder, two tears that were almost all the way through and, on top of that, had to remove part of my clavicle bone.
With the wonder surgery that Dr. Coleman performed and my dedication to recovery my shoulder is doing well. I never had one session of physical therapy. When I asked about it he said that if I did exactly what he told me to do I would not need any physical therapy and he was absolutely correct. The first three months were extremely critical to my recovery so I followed his instructions. Not using my arm, adding a little weight and mobility, and then more weight and mobility. I was totally surprised at 12 weeks when he told me he was ending our relationship. LOL
I now have no restrictions and am trying to use it more and gradually put more weight on it.
It is wonderful to be pain free except if I over do it and that goes away, The constant pain in finally gone and I am looking forward to getting my life back to normal.
If you are having shoulder issues, Dr. Coleman is the guy to see.
While playing golf, I noticed a recurring pain in my shoulder. It became more and more agonizing. I decided to see Dr. Martin Coleman and he ordered an MRI scan, where he found my already repaired right shoulder joint was deteriorated from arthritis . He informed me that the joint would would need a replacement. On March 9, I had the surgery.
It is now three months later and I have not had any pain since the 2nd day after surgery. I have strengthened the joint, now swing a golf club, and I’m cutting the grass around my bee hives. If you are hesitant about surgery, with Dr. Coleman, his staff and with physical therapy, you could have the same results. Please remember you are responsible to follow the Dr.’s directives and the prescribed physical therapy.
I had the best experience possible when having shoulder surgery several months ago. Dr. Martin Coleman did an exceptional job diagnosing my shoulder issue, and laid out a plan to fix the torn rotator cuff, including removing bone spurs. I had limited pain and discomfort after surgery, and healed quickly. Dr. Coleman’s release to physical therapy decision early contributed to a quick recovery. Within four months after surgery, I’m able to return to most physical activities. I’m very thankful for the quality care I received from Dr. Coleman at OSC. Thank you, OSC and Dr. Coleman.
Over the years, Dr. Boyd Haynes has been our family’s orthopaedic surgeon. He has always provided truly remarkable skills and excellent care. His post-operative guidance in physical therapy also thoroughly supports the excellent outcomes that we have experienced. Our family is most appreciative.
