My name is Catherine Reid, I would like to thank Tom Toothaker, DPT. Joshua Hancock, LPTA and Fred Wintermantel PTA, for their care doing my rehabilitation at Orthopedic & Spine Center.
I was treated for pain in my left shoulder, which made it impossible to complete my normal physical duties and daily activities that I was accustomed to doing.
After eight weeks of rehabilitation, I have been able to resume all my my normal activities without pain. I was made comfortable at each session and was assisted with the best professional care and concern from each Therapist and their assistant.
I would recommend OSC to anyone needing Physical Therapy for any reason. I am truly thankful for the treatment, the healing and personal training that I received. Catherine Reid
My name is Anthony Alter. Between Dr. Cody Leeworthy, PTA Bill Richards and the staff, I had excellent care and they concentrated on my needs. My back is a mess from scoliosis, and they worked on teaching me exercises to help strengthen my back muscles with the goal of reducing the pain.
I look forward to each session, I have spent 41 years at a desk job so a lot of muscles need work. I would recommend then to everyone.
At the age of 81 years young, I had full knee replacement surgery, performed by Dr. Boyd Haynes in March of 2020. I was very nervous about everything and waited a few years too long to have the surgery. Looking back, I wonder why I was so nervous. Dr. Haynes and his team were very patient in walking me and my family through the entire process. They leave nothing out and my surgery and recovery went great!
I went home on the same day of the surgery. Everything that morning went exactly as Dr. Boyd described. Both of my sons accompanied me to the hospital on the day of my surgery. They told me later that Dr. Haynes met with them immediately after the surgery, explaining how it went, answered their questions and told them when they would be able to see me.
Being able to go home the day of my surgery was great. On the second day, I was up and walking with a walker. At this point of my recovery, I began my PT and in home exercises. Dr. Boyd’s primary directive for the best chances of a full recovery was simple and straight forward, “do your PT and follow up exercises”. My PT was conducted at home because of Covid-19; all of the in-home Physical Therapist’s and nurses were wonderful to work with. My exercises and PT began on day two. With my daughter-in-law acting as my at home PT coach, she ensured I followed Dr. Boyd’s primary directive. This is not the most fun thing you will experience, but you will make progress each day.
My final follow up with Dr. Haynes was completed in early March 2021. I am now pain free in my knee. I am able to walk, go up and down steps without the use a cane or walker. I’m enjoying myself again with family and friends and have Dr. Haynes and his entire team to thank for that.
I highly recommend Dr. Haynes and the OSC Physical Therapy team. I would be remiss if I failed to mention Dr. Haynes’s Physician Assistant, Chris Schwizer. He was also wonderful to work with and always made me feel I was in great hands. Dr. Haynes’s team, their professionalism, bedside manner and his cheerful laugh lets you know he cares.
I have used OSC Physical Therapy on several occasions and have always been very pleased with the treatment that I have received.
I have been going again for the past 5-6 weeks and Tom Toothaker, DPT, has been my therapist. I can not say enough good things about Tom. He is indeed a professional in all senses, very easy to understand and always has a smile and encouragement. He explains what he is going to do to help you and makes you feel completely at ease. I never left therapy feeling that I did not get the best treatment available with my issues. Thanks a million, Tom. Also, his assistant Rachel (sorry do not know her last name) was outstanding and always ready to help and explain the exercises. Thanks to you also, Rachel.
I would like to thank Cody Leeworthy, DPT, for the services that I have received at OSC-PT. I had broken and crushed my upper tibia at the knee joint in July 2020.
I came in for Physical Therapy care in September 2020. I was walking with a walker with no weight bearing. By the time I left PT on Dec 31, 2020, I was walking with one or two crutches. I have enjoyed the personal care from your staff to get me moving again.
This is a one year anniversary follow -up review of my right knee total replacement by Dr. Boyd Haynes. As a recap of the prior review, I walked up and down the stairs normally, but carefully, on the twelfth day after surgery. A month after surgery I was walking up and down the stairs normally. I have had continuing recovery as I kept up with the recommended exercises. I have a stationary bicycle and a treadmill that I use regularly, since I was mostly housebound for the last year due to the Covid-19 recommendations to not travel unless necessary. I can do whatever I was able to due before surgery, with no restrictions. My only problem is still some stiffness when trying to squat or sit on a low stool. Sitting down and standing up in a regular chair or sofa is not a problem.
I would highly recommend Dr. Haynes to anyone who is contemplating knee replacement. He, his team and the OSC Physical Therapy team are excellent, and provided the best care I could imagine. Only one caveat: if you have the knee replacement surgery, follow the recommended exercises every day; it will make the recovery much faster.
I have been going to OSC Physical Therapy for about a month. I wanted to comment on the young man, Jonathan Lorusso PTA, that was my therapist.
From the first day I went, he made me feel comfortable and at ease. He listened and truly cared about the things I told him. He was very professional and at the same time, very down to earth. We talked, we laughed and even when he hit a sore spot that made me uncomfortable and want to jump off the table, we still got a good laugh. I am positive he will continue to grow within this company. I hope his superiors see what an asset he is to OSC.
Over a period of 2 years, I saw Dr. Boyd Haynes and received cortisone shots to ease pain in my right knee. When the shots failed to help, we decided it was time for total knee replacement surgery. The care to assure the proper diagnosis and resultant solution was done in a very professional manner that instilled confidence that we were on the right path.
The procedure at Mary Immaculate Hospital went very well, and I was home the afternoon of the same day. With the help of pain medication, the physical therapy began in my home the next day. I also had the use of a RomTech therapy cycle for 3 weeks, which gradually helped to stretch and bend my knee. I am still in physical therapy and feeling improvement every day.
I can highly recommend Dr. Haynes and the OSC. Dr. Haynes professional and measured approach to my diagnosis was greatly appreciated. The staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital was very friendly, efficient, and careful especially in this time of the Covid pandemic.
I had a right hip replacement done on August 31, 2020 at Sentara Careplex. However, I used OSC Physical Therapy for my PT. I had been to OSC PT prior and returned to see Dr. Jamie Swale and Fred Wintermantel. I can only say how thankful I am to the staff for the care and concern they displayed.
I could not walk without a walker when I started and was determined to walk without a limp. Jamie and Fred both knew my desire and worked to give me exercises and therapy sessions to meet this end. They were professional and pleasant and even funny at times. Many of the other associates there were also very professional and you could see the team work. I would definitely recommend OSC PT, as the staff are knowledgeable and the facility is well run. Thank you for all you do and for all the patients you have helped. Your service is so valuable to patients.
With sincere thanks and appreciation,
Team Haynes, once again to the rescue!
Through the suggestion of Dr. Boyd Haynes’ Physician Assistant, Chris Schwizer, I had an MRI done as I had major bicep pain. My MRI showed a partial tear. This was almost 3 years after rotator cuff surgery…
So, off to the awesome PT Group at OSC Physical Therapy. With the extensive direction of Dr. Jamie Swale and about 8 visits… it was incredible! No pain and great mobility. Compassionate, Caring, Knowledgeable is the OSC PT Team.
