This is a one year anniversary follow -up review of my right knee total replacement by Dr. Boyd Haynes. As a recap of the prior review, I walked up and down the stairs normally, but carefully, on the twelfth day after surgery. A month after surgery I was walking up and down the stairs normally. I have had continuing recovery as I kept up with the recommended exercises. I have a stationary bicycle and a treadmill that I use regularly, since I was mostly housebound for the last year due to the Covid-19 recommendations to not travel unless necessary. I can do whatever I was able to due before surgery, with no restrictions. My only problem is still some stiffness when trying to squat or sit on a low stool. Sitting down and standing up in a regular chair or sofa is not a problem.
I would highly recommend Dr. Haynes to anyone who is contemplating knee replacement. He, his team and the OSC Physical Therapy team are excellent, and provided the best care I could imagine. Only one caveat: if you have the knee replacement surgery, follow the recommended exercises every day; it will make the recovery much faster.
