Lower Back Care

Did you know that 80% of Americans will seek medical care for back pain at some point in their lives? Why? Because our back is involved in EVERYTHING we do, from carrying groceries to driving the car to playing with our kids. We can’t function well if our backs are hurting us and for some folks, back pain is an everyday occurrence.

Thankfully, the physicians at OSC are here to help! With two Fellowship-trained Spine Specialists on board, you can rest assured that you will receive the most advanced care available for your aching back. Luckily, most garden-variety lower back pain is caused by muscle strain and is treated conservatively with activity modification, heat or ice, anti-inflammatory medication and muscle-relaxants. Physical Therapy can also be quite helpful to strengthen weak back muscles and to teach you how to lift and move properly.

If your pain is caused by a more serious condition, OSC offers a variety of in-office procedures that can address the inflammatory issues that can be the cause of your pain. Epidural steroid injections are very effective in reducing inflammation and pain. Regenerative Medicine Therapies (Stem Cell, PRP and Prolotherapy) use the body’s own healing properties to effect relief and repair, especially when surgery is not an option or is the last resort.

If surgery is required, OSC’s Spine Specialists are pioneers in the field of LES (Less Exposure Spine) Surgery, which is minimally-invasive and less traumatic to the patient, with quicker recovery times and much less post-operative pain. Most of these surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis and the patient is able to go home the same day of surgery and recover in the comfort of their own home.
