Steroid Joint Injections

Steroid injections are commonly performed to treat arthritis, bursitis and tendonitis related pain. We commonly administer them in the knee, hip, and shoulder.

Steroids are a potent anti-inflammatory and when injected directly at the level of inflammation can significantly reduce pain. Steroid injections usually work within a few days and the effects can last up to several weeks or months. These injections may be performed with live x-ray guidance or ultrasound guidance to more accurately inject the medication at the source of the pain.
