Rehab and Recovery

The patient will begin rehabilitation exercises shortly after surgery. We cannot emphasize the importance of these exercises! When recovering, the patient can put full weight on the knee and begin range of motion activities immediately. When comfortable, the patient may return to all activities. If there are no arthritic changes in the knee, recovery usually happens quickly. Your orthopaedic specialist may recommend special strengthening and Range of Motion exercises to help achieve maximum recovery. These exercises will help restore knee strength, mobility, and range of motion. As with any surgery, rehab is crucial to recovery. Meniscal tears are common injuries and with proper diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, patients often return to their previous level of activity.
