For 40 years, I was an avid runner and loved playing racquetball. But 5 years ago, I had to stop both due to discomfort in my left hip. The idea of a hip replacement was always disconcerting to me; however, last June I decided it was time to act and had the hip replaced by Dr. Boyd Haynes. In my almost 70 years, it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I was released from the hospital the day after surgery and never had to take any pain medication.
I am pain-free, and again playing racquetball a couple of times a week, as well as working out on elliptical and stationary bike 4-5 days a week. And my weekly 4 mile walks now include 2 miles of running!
I am firmly a member of the “I should have had it done years ago” club.
