Discharge as an Outpatient
Once you have sufficiently awakened, you will be taken to a post-surgical recovery area to fully awaken and become reoriented to your surroundings. Your family member may join you in the room at this time. You will be given something to drink and possibly some crackers to eat. Your IV will be removed. You and your companion will be given written post-surgical instructions and prescriptions to be filled upon leaving the Ambulatory Surgery Center. You will be allowed to dress and will be taken to the post-surgical pick up area, by wheelchair, for your transportation home.
