The Day of Your Surgery
Whether you have Inpatient or Outpatient surgery will depend on the type of surgery you are having, your general health, age and other factors. Your OSC physician will choose the best type of surgical setting for your specific needs. Visit the links below to help you better understand what to expect on the day of your surgery.
It is important that you do not eat or drink anything after midnight the morning before your surgery.* You will be given specific instructions based on your surgical time. If your mouth gets dry and needs refreshing, you are allowed to brush your teeth, rinse your mouth with water or gargle with mouthwash, taking care not to swallow ANY liquid. Failure to follow these important instructions may result in a cancellation of your surgery.
*EXCEPTION – If you have to take heart or blood pressure medication the morning of your surgery, you may take the medication with a small sip of water.
