I found out last Fall that my left hip would need to be replaced, due to the effects of arthritis. It was bone on bone. I wasn’t sure who I wanted to do the surgery. I read testimonials on the OSC website, as well as the Health grades website. Based on what I read, I decided to go with Dr. Haynes. I set up an appointment with him and the minute he walked into the exam room, I knew he was the doctor for me.
My surgery went very well. He even lengthened my leg 1/4″ to make it even with my right leg. The first time they got me up after the surgery I noticed right away both legs were even. I did not have a lot of pain and found that Advil was strong enough for my needs. I was walking without the walker within 4 days of my surgery. The home care nurse and PT specialists were amazed by my rapid recovery. Within 6 weeks after surgery, I joined the YMCA and attend water aerobics classes 3 times a week and use the fitness center 2 days per week.
Dr. Haynes is an OUTSTANDING surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing this type of surgery. But, you have to do the work to get the full use of your hip back. Physical therapy and exercise are very important.
