Years of abusing my back finally caught up with me in 2013. I had back pain for 15 years and had been receiving treatment from Dr. Jeffery Carlson that allowed me to manage it. In 2014, it became much worse. Dr. Carlson was very thorough and was willing to try any and all treatments that would keep me from having to have surgery. I had been given several cortisone shots, but the last one had no effect whatsoever. I tried repeated physical therapy sessions which would provide temporary relief, but pain would resume. I am a hands-on, get on the floor and play with the kids, kind of Pop-Pop. When playing with my 5 grandkids made me miserable for days, I decided it was time to do something to get my life back to normal. Dr. Carlson said that something was surgery.
So, in Nov. 2013, Dr. Carlson fused my back and put in screws, cages, and rods. He was so attentive to every detail of the surgery. I went home 2 days later, and while the first week was no picnic, it was 10 times better than the pain with which I had been living. Each week, I improved and felt like my old self. Dr. Carlson checked my progress frequently and was as pleased as I was with the results of the surgery. My only regret was not having it done sooner. I would definitely recommend Dr. Carlson and the staff at OSC for anyone with chronic back pain.
