Important Update for OSC Surgical Patients during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Orthopaedic & Spine Center

The Surgeon General, American College of Surgeons and CDC are recommending that all non-essential invasive procedures be postponed in the nation’s hospitals. Bon Secours/Mercy Mary lmmaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA will be rescheduling non-essential invasive surgeries as of Monday. March 23 2020, based on close consultation with their surgeons regarding the medical necessity of each case.  Rescheduling of cases will be handled on a week-by-week basis moving forward. It’s crucial that we all do our part not to overtax our local hospitals, their medical professionals and resources during the COVID-19 outbreak.

If you have surgery scheduled after March 23, 2020, your OSC Surgical Scheduler will contact you directly regarding this.  If you need to reschedule your surgery for any reason, please contact your OSC Surgical Scheduler.

For patients with provider appointments at OSC: To limit the spread of COVID-19, OSC is asking patients not to bring family members or caregivers to appointments, if possible. Exceptions will be made to allow one additional person if a patient requires ambulatory assistance or support during provider discussions. Pain Management procedures sometimes require a driver, which is allowed.

We appreciate your patience and consideration.  The situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is fluid and updates are happening rapidly.  Your OSC Team will communicate with you regarding any changes to our care delivery in order to keep you fully informed.  Stay well and together, we can #flattenthecurve.
